As a Payhawk administrator, you can enhance your team's efficiency and reduce manual data entry by enabling the AI-powered smart expense note.
How the smart expense note works
The smart expense note feature automatically generates expense notes by analyzing the details from uploaded expense documents, while also learning from the employee’s past expenses and overall account-wide expense patterns.
As a result, when an employee creates an expense, Payhawk AI analyzes the expense document and references previous expenses to auto-populate the Note field. The automation adapts its tone, language, and key details based on past reviewed expenses.
Like other automated fields in the Payhawk system, a star indicator marks the AI-generated notes.
For traceability, you can also view the action in the Activity section of the expense.
Enabling the smart expense note
To enable the smart expense note:
In the Payhawk portal, go to Settings > Expense fields.
Under Built-in fields, select Note.
Switch on the Smart expense note toggle.
Click on Save changes.
Disabling the smart expense note
To disable the smart expense note:
In the Payhawk portal, go to Settings > Expense fields.
Under Built-in fields, select Note.
Switch off the Smart expense note toggle.
Click on Save changes.
