This article provides answers to some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQ) related to the Payhawk billing card.

Why did you issue me a new billing card when I already have one that I use for paying my subscription?

Currently, to use a Payhawk card as a payment method, the card has to be a billing card. Otherwise, Payhawk will issue a billing card and add it as a primary payment method for your account.

If you're using an external card to pay for your subscription, Payhawk will issue a billing card and will set it as a secondary payment method so that if the payment cannot go through your non-Payhawk card for whatever reason, Payhawk will use the billing card as a backup source.

Why did the owner of the billing card change?

The initial Payhawk billing card is issued in the name of the first active account administrator. In case of reissuing, the billing card will be issued in the name of the same user if they are still working at the company. If not, the billing card will be issued in the name of the next activated account administrator.

Why wasn't I notified about the issuance of a new card?

The billing card is issued in the name of the specific employee who is the first active account administrator. Similar to all Payhawk virtual cards, that cardholder receives an email when the billing card is issued.

Why was the new card issued in a specific currency when I have accounts in multiple currencies?

The billing card uses the first active balance that has funds in it.

How can I change the billing card currency since I have balances in two different currencies?

To change the billing card currency, contact the Payhawk Support team over the chat.

How can I change the owner of the billing card and assign it to another employee?

To change the owner of the billing card and assign it to another user, contact the Payhawk Support team over the chat.

When is a billing card reissued?

If your billing card is no longer active because it has been frozen (blocked), closed, or has expired, Payhawk will reissue the card. Payhawk won't unfreeze the current billing card as it assumes there's a valid reason for blocking it.

Why the billing card spend limit has been updated?

If the spend limit of the billing card is less than the subscription amount that is due, Payhawk will increase that limit so that the payment can go through.
