Updating tracking categories from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance

Sync the financial dimensions between Payhawk and your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance accounting software.

When you connect Payhawk to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, your available tracking categories are automatically imported.

If you update tracking categories in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance after establishing the connection, you must manually refresh the data in Payhawk.

Specifics

The available dimensions are configured in the dimension configuration package in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance as part of the setup.

When syncing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance tracking categories, the system imports the following financial dimensions into Payhawk custom fields:

  • Business Unit and Cost Center – Available as standard custom fields for each export.

  • Department and Project – Accessible by mapping each imported department or project to a Team or Project in Payhawk and specifying them in the expense screen accordingly.

Updating Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance categories in Payhawk

To manually update your tracking categories in Payhawk:

  1. In the Payhawk web portal, go to Settings > Expense fields.

  2. Under Tracking categories from MS Dynamics Finance & Operations, select the desired category by clicking on it.

  3. Click on Update from MS Dynamics Finance & Operations.
