Viewing and resetting the PIN for your Payhawk card

Where can I find my PIN? How can I use my card PIN? When do I have to enter my PIN? Can I reset my PIN?

Updated over a month ago

The PIN code is an indispensable attribute for virtual and physical cards depending on the amount the merchant has defined to require a PIN code.

You can view and reset the PIN code for your card from the Payhawk mobile app only.

Payments requiring your PIN code

For Payhawk cards, you'll need to provide your PIN code in the following cases:

  • When you make contactless payments with your physical Payhawk card for greater amounts. The amount for which you may be required to enter your PIN code in such cases depends on the contactless limit defined by the specific merchant.

  • When you use your virtual Payhawk card from Google Wallet or Apple Pay to pay greater amounts at POS terminals. Again, the amount for which you may be required to enter your PIN code in such cases depends on the contactless limit defined by the specific merchant.

Viewing your PIN code

To find the PIN code for your physical or virtual Payhawk card:

  1. In the Payhawk mobile app, go to Cards, authenticate, and select the desired card.

  2. Tap View PIN. As a result, your PIN code will appear.

Resetting your PIN code

You have the option to generate a new PIN code for your Payhawk card through the system at any time.

However, there are cases when you may be required to do so for a specific reason - for example, if your card has been blocked by the card issuer after entering a wrong PIN 3 consecutive times.

To regain access to your physical Payhawk card after it's been blocked by the card issuer, you must first reset your PIN code in the Payhawk mobile app and, then, use the card with the new PIN code at an ATM or POS device to unblock it.

To reset the PIN code of your Payhawk card:

  1. In the Payhawk mobile app, go to Cards, authenticate, and select the desired card.

  2. Tap the View PIN option.

  3. In the dialog that opens, tap Reset PIN, then Reset. As a result, the new PIN code will be auto-generated by the system.

  4. Close the dialog by tapping x.

The message prompting you to use the card at an ATM or POS device will appear for physical cards only.
